General surgery is a medical discipline that involves performing various types of surgical procedures to treat a broad range of health problems and diseases. In general surgery, the surgeon is expected to perform both pre- and post-operative care and management other than the surgery itself.

It is a type of surgery in which small incisions are made in the abdominal wall through which a laparoscope and other instruments can be placed to permit structures within the abdomen and pelvis to be seen. Various probes or other instruments can also be pushed through these small incisions in the skin. This way, several surgical procedures can be performed without needing a large surgical incision.

Colo-rectal surgery is a surgical speciality concerned with diagnosing and treating of disorders and abnormalities of the colon, rectum, and anal canal.

ERCP is an endoscopic procedure to diagnose and treat problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas:
• Remove stones or other intraluminal obstructions from the central or intrahepatic bile ducts.
• Biopsy and stent tumours obstructing the primary bile duct, placing stents for bile duct injuries etc.
• Place stents in the pancreatic duct for patients with chronic pancreatitis causing severe chronic pain or for leaks from the pancreatic duct.

HPB surgery is a subspeciality of surgery specific to benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tree.
